VIVACOM invests in youth sports since it is company priority not only the development of professional sports in Bulgaria but also the physical education and health of the Bulgarian children. The VIVACOM National Streetball Cup is among the few sports events of this kind intended for children who are the potential of the Bulgarian nation. By organising this tournament VIVACOM sets a goal to create conditions for development of the young people and their physical health and to offer one more positive emotion to the Bulgarian children and families.
In 2010 the telecom organised the fourth edition of the State Streetball Championship and offered to every Bulgarian family to take part in the sports holiday that was organised at the centre of the major Bulgarian cities. The Championship enjoys greater and greater interest in every edition. During the last season it attracted 780 participating teams and almost 3,500 sport fans of all ages who matched their strength in the contest for the State Streetball Champion Title. The veterans Titi Papazov, Georgi Glushkov and Marian Kostadinov played against a team of media representatives and won in a challenging match.
The Championship was organised in 12 Bulgarian towns that geographically cover almost the whole territory of the country: Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Kyustendil, Stara Zagora, Yambol, Shumen, Gabrovo, Pleven, Vidin and Montana. All the regional tournament winners participated in the final in Sofia. The show was opened by a hip-hop performance by the Ghetto People and Jenny Dzhambazova and Street dance school, The Center and ended with a concert of Tri-O-five. As every year, all winners received medals, cups and material prizes from VIVACOM.
Every year the VIVACOM Streetball Cup is carried out in several age categories. Each team consists of three players and if the players wish so a substitute player is admitted or a coach. The tournament matches continue until either team scores 10 points or until expiry of 10 minutes. The teams occupying the first three positions in the tournament receive medals and material prizes. An MVP for each age group is chosen who receives a special plaque and prize from VIVACOM. Streetball tournaments are organised specially for the media representatives.
"We are happy for the increasing interest to the State Streetball Championship because we want to invest in the young people of Bulgaria and to work for their sports culture.
