We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in high-voltage substations and transmission infrastructure. Candidates with previous experience at the Electricity System Operator (ESO), Distribution System Operators (DSOs), or EPC contractors delivering substation projects are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage (HV/MV) substations.
• Review electrical designs, single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate activities with EPC contractors, consultants, suppliers, and utility companies.
• Work closely with the Electricity System Operator (ESO) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs) throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with Bulgarian grid codes, technical regulations, and international electrical standards.
• Support grid connection activities for renewable energy projects.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, testing, commissioning, energization, and handover of substations.
• Monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and technical requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, progress reports, and project records.
• Identify technical issues and provide engineering solutions during project execution.

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in high-voltage (HV/MV) substations, electrical power systems, or transmission infrastructure.
• Experience working for the Electricity System Operator (ESO), a Distribution System Operator (DSO), EPC contractor, or engineering company involved in HV substations.
• Strong knowledge of:HV/MV/LV electrical systems:
• High-voltage and medium-voltage substations
• Protection and control systems
• Grid connection requirements
• Relay protection
• SCADA systems
• Electrical testing and commissioning
• Bulgarian and international electrical standards

• Experience coordinating contractors and working on construction sites.
• Valid driving licence.

 

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
• Ability to work both in the office and on construction sites.
• Willingness to travel across Bulgaria.
• Good command of English.

 

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Experience with renewable energy grid connection projects.
• Experience with 110 kV, 220 kV, or 400 kV substations.
• Experience with IEC 61850 and modern substation automation systems.
• Previous experience in testing and commissioning of substations.
• Knowledge of local permitting procedures and grid connection process.
