(06.01.12) VIVACOM with official permission to test its 4G-network

The service will allow speeds for mobile data traffic up to 100 Mbps

Sofia, 6 January 2012 - VIVACOM has an official permission form CRC to start the tests of its 4G network. The company will start the building of a test environment according to LTE standards in Sofia. In three months the network will be ready to allow testing and demonstrations in real conditions. VIVACOM 4G-network will allow speed for mobile traffic up to 100 Mbps for download and 50 Mbps for upload. 

The new technology will allow the telecom to ensure the wide spread of broadband technologies and VIVACOM's leading position on the mobile data market in times of growing consumption of these services which only for an year has increased more than 10 times. The LTE technology will give opportunity for offering many multimedia services of new generation which use vastly the abilities of the smart phones. The fact that this year the number of people using smartphone and tablet in VIVACOM network has increased with more than 50% proves it.

In 2012 VIVACOM will also continue to invest in its 3G network. The focus in its strategy remains the provisioning of full network coverage in the country and increasing of the speeds offered. The company ended its 3G-development program for the last year with 97.48 % coverage among the population and 86.50% of the territory of the country thus becoming officially the best 3G network in Bulgaria.

By the end of the last year there are 49 4G-networks worldwide in 29 countries, 13 of which are in Europa.
