(22.05.09) National streetball championships for the vivatel cup starts across Bulgaria
The third edition of the prestigious tournament will be held in 12 towns with more than 2,500 participants
May 23 will see the start of the national streetball championships for the vivatel cup. The prestigeous competition is organized by vivatel and the Bulgarian Basketball Federation, and will be held for the third time. The organizers expect close to 2,500 players to challenge the title of national streetball champion.
This season the matches for the vivatel cup will be held in 12 population centres which ensures full geographic coverage of the territory of Bulgaria: Sofia, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad, Yambol, Bourgas, Stara Zagora, Varna, Albena, Turgovishte, Pleven, Vidin and Montana. The regional tournaments start in Sofia May 23 and end July 4, again in Sofia. All winners of the regional tournaments will play at the finals.
The vivatel cup matches will be played in three age groups: for players born after December 31, 1994, after December 31, 1992 and December 31, 1990. Each team will have three players. Games in the regional tournaments will be played for 10 minutes or until either team scores 10 points. Media people will have a chance to join a special streetball tournament for journalists.
The teams placing first to third in the regional tournaments and the final tournament will win medals and prizes from vivatel and adidas. A most valued player, or MVP, will be named in each age group and he will win a special award.
