(01.07.09) BTC cuts further the rates for calls from landline to mobile phone
As of today, BTC reduces the wholesale rates for calls from landline to mobile phones by a further BGN 0.02/min. It is yet another step that the company is making towards faster reduction of rates for calls to mobile networks this year.
After the price cut, the retail rate for calls from the BTC fixed network to the mobile networks of Mtel, Globul and vivatel will be BGN 0.40/min for peak and BGN 0.282/min without VAT for off-peak hours. The price adjustment follows a decision by the Communications Regulation Commission for reduction of the rates for call termination in mobile networks, and is reflected in all tariff plans of BTC.
BTC has been following a focused policy of reducing call rates, which has to date resulted in several steps of price reduction. The first step was made in February 1, 2008, and the most recent was in April 2009.
The company policy is in the best interest of Bulgarian users and in keeping with the European Commission recommendations for immediate approximation of the rates for calls from fixed to mobile and from mobile to mobile networks. Committed to the principles of free competition and the interests of its clients, BTC continues to struggle for immediate approximation of the rates for termination in mobile networks with the average European levels.
Bulgaria still has EU's highest termination rates which hinders BTC from reducing considerably its rates for end-users. We urge the Bulgarian regulator to take additional steps in this direction and step up the process of reducing users' costs for telecommunication services.
