(27.05.09) 2,150 applicants for internship at BTC in just 45 days
Company opens another 6 internship positions because of great interest
Nearly 2,150 applications for internship at the BTC were received at the company in just 45 days. The beginning of the internship programme, titled Time for Dress Rehearsal, was announced at the end of March at the traditional Careers forum.
According to initial plans, this year BTC had to enrol 52 students in its summer programme. Because of the considerable interest, however, the telecom decided to give a chance to another six applicants to become part of its team over the next three months.
In the summer of 2009 the students will be able to acquaint themselves with the occupations in eight fundamental directorates of the company - Finances, Operation, IT, Commercial Directorate, Legal Directorate, Human Resources, PR and Corporate Communications, Supply, Logistics and Car Pool.
Students show the greatest interest in the BTC Commercial Directorate, more particularly in the position of Marketing Intern, for which 200 of them have applied. Second are the engineering positions, for which a total of 450 individuals from all over the country have applied. These are followed by the positions at Human Resources, with nearly 320 applicants, and Finances - with 250 applicants.
The distribution of applicants by gender is also interesting. In the case of the technical profiles the ratio is 65%:35% in favour of men. As to the positions in Human Resources, 70% of the interested applicants are women. Equal portions of men and women have applied for the commercial positions and the positions in Finances.
Students also showed considerable interest in the positions for Varna and Plovdiv where more than 100 have applied for one position.
The second stage of the campaign - the interviews - is currently under way at the BTC. The first interns will begin work in the middle of next month. By tradition, the summer internship campaign will end in mid-October.
