(01.04.08) THE STATE AGENCY FOR YOUTH AND SPORTS AND VIVATEL LAUNCH A PROJECT FOR MINORITIES INTEGRATION AND ETHNIC TOLERANCE
A press conference, to mark the start and the presentation of the project „I Want To Be", will be held at 11:00 on April 1 at the "Bulgaria" press club. The project has been carried out for the fifth consecutive year within the framework of the Decade of Roma Inclusion programme. For the first time however the project covers two regions Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo. The goal of the „I Want To Be" project is to encourage fair play between teams, including young football players of different ethnic origin aged between 14 and 16. The main target of the project is to support via sports the education in tolerance and the social integration of minorities in the two regions.
This sports event is organised by the State Agency for Youth and Sports, in cooperation with BFU, UNDP, the „Open Society" institute and with the financial support of „Balkanika - holding group" - joint stock company and vivatel.
„For the second year in a row vivatel backs the noble initiative of SAYS", Mariya Toycheva, senior manager for marketing communications at the telecom said. „Going on the field together, the children have the opportunity to understand the meaning of the sportsman spirit and to strengthen their willpower to meet the challenges of life", she added.
The „I Want To Be" project kicked off on March 30 in Veliko Tarnovo, where the first match of the youth team championship was played. Our famous footballers Rosen Kirilov, Velizar Dimitrov, Stanislav Genchev and Stilyan Petrov are the ambassadors of the project this year.
Official representatives of SAYS and all partners of the project will participate in the press conference.
