We have come along the exciting and
dynamic path from the first telecom operator in Bulgaria to the popular Bulgarian brand VIVACOM - leader in providing high-tech services of a new generation. Today, we take care of the communication needs of more than 4 million customers and are proud to have successfully developed a network of over 230 shops throughout the country.

 

In today’s fast-paced and challenging world it is not enough to have a voice connection; we have to be connected anywhere at anytime. That is why we at VIVACOM rely on out-of-the-box thinking and approach to provide innovative and effective technological solutions for everyone.

 

Our mission and goal is to provide personalized services to our customers: mobile and fixed voice services; high speed broadband internet access through fiber optic, copper and satellite infrastructure; data transmission services via the mobile and fixed networks; and individual telecommunication solutions tailor-made for the client.

 

Our commitment to the society does not only include the best products and services. Our social policy, unified under the VIVACOM Fund platform, includes annual investment of millions of BGN in the fields of education, culture, sports and charity.

We have a mature distribution network with above 230 own retail outlets, where the clients can choose the service they need and use free of charge wi-fi Internet.                                               


History

In June 2004 the Bulgarian government sold, following a transparent procedure, 65% of the BTC capital to Viva Ventures Holding, a subsidiary of the US private equity fund Advent International. In January 2005 the Bulgarian state launched public offering of the remaining shares and offered 34.78 percent of the company's capital (2,869,573 shares) on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange - Sofia.
  
In May 2005 the BTC was granted a licence for the development of third-generation mobile telecommunication systems under the UMTS standard, class B (2x5+5 MHz). The permit is valid for a period of 20 years and the licence fee is BGN 42 million.
  
In November 2005 the company launched its mobile services under the vivatel brand. The mobile operator helped bring fair competition to the Bulgarian market offering real value and choice. As a result, vivatel became Bulgaria's fastest growing mobile operator following its launch. 
 
In August 2007 AIG Investments, though its subsidiary AIG Capital Partners, Inc., acquired 90 percent in BTC from Viva Ventures Holding and minority shareholders after it had received the relevant approval by the European Union and other regulatory authorities.
 
In January 2009, the BTC announced the merger with its subsidiary BTC Mobile (vivatel). Today, the merged company has one of the biggest portfolios of products, services and complex solutions on the Bulgarian telecom market. The aim of the merger was to improve the management efficiency, optimize costs, secure sustainable growth and introduce a single brand, client approach and product offers.
 
In September 2009, BTC and vivatel united into a new brand - VIVACOM. The change was designed to turn the company into a modern, open and client-oriented organization offering converged telecommunication solutions of superior quality.
 
In the end of April 2010 the telco gathered all its employees in Sofia in one place - the headquarter of the company, situated on 115I, Tsarigradsko shose boulevard.  This was the last step in building the new image and the new brand, associated primarily with values as effectiveness and dynamics. Today VIVACOM's headquarters accommodate more than 1200 people.
 
In September 2010, VIVACOM added a new service to its portfolio - VIVACOM TV - digital television. The service boasts high quality picture and sound, 100% country coverage and a variety of TV channels.

VIVACOM Integrated Management System is certified and continuously maintained in accordance with international standards:

 

  • ISO 9001:2008 “Quality management systems” with the following scope: Provision of electronic communication services, including fixed  voice telephone service, mobile voice telephone service under GSM and UMTS standard, television,  Internet access, data transmission and transfer, provision of data transfer environment, collocation and complex technical solutions. Development and implementation of software development and implementation of integrated solutions and IT audit.
  • ISO 14001:2004 “Environmental Management System” and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 “Occupational Health and Safety Management” with the following scope: providing of electronic communication services, GSM and UMTS mobile voice service, television, internet access, data transfer, transmission media, collocation and complex technical solutions.
  • ISO/IEC 27001:2013 “Information Security Management – Requirements” with scope: Vivacom Headquarter, Data Center - Haydushka Polyana, Data Center - Kaspichan.
  • ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011  " IT Service management - Part 1: Service management system requirements" with scope "The IT service management system of BTC - VIVACOM supporting the provision of electronic communication and IT services in accordance with the service catalogue to business customers".
